Super-exciting update: As of 9 April 2010, there have only been 10 days when this pattern hasn’t been downloaded since its original posting on 9 April 2009. That’s 255 days of downloads!!! I’m so thrilled that so many Ravelers have been interested in this, and that it has helped so many mamas knit longies and covers for their babes. And please remember I’d LOVE it if you sold what you made from this pattern! And now, back to your regularly-scheduled pattern notes …

This is a top-down, fully customizable pattern for longies, a.k.a. a pair of wool knitted pants to be worn over a cloth diaper. Any medium-weight wool yarn will do, provided it’s soft enough to be comfortably worn next to the skin. These could easily be knit in cotton, or another non-wool blend for non-cloth-diapered babies, as well.

This pattern is written in an Elizabeth Zimmerman-style … more of a tutorial than a row-by-row pattern. Please feel free to learn from this, and use your new skills to make whatever pleases you, and do with them as you please.

US Copyright Law does not restrict the sale of finished items -- only the reproduction and sale of the pattern itself. You are free to make these and sell them to your heart’s content. I would be thrilled if this pattern was used to help support a family, or even a fiber habit. :o)

There is a general size chart at the end of the pattern, for those of you who don’t have a baby or toddler to measure for sizing.
