Bowl & Waste Bin Covers

(Bowl cover can be used for Potpourri etc)

Abbreviations

WS.       Wrong Side

RS.        Right Side

sc.         Single Crochet

dc.         Double Crochet

rpt.        Repeat

sl st.      Slip Stitch


dc5tog.  Leaving last loop of each dc on hook,

work 5dc in next stitch, yo and pull through all loops.


Crab Stitch.  Working left to right work

sc backwards ch3 counts as first dc


Sizes to fit approx:-

Bowl  6” diameter x 5” high.

Waste Bin base 6”, opening 8” diameter and height 11”


Materials

100 grams of King Cole big value DK in natural (046) main colour

100 grams of King Cole big value DK in wine (032) contrast


OR

3.5oz of Worsted Weight Yarn in Main Color

3.5oz of Worsted Weight Yarn in Contrast Color

4.00mm & 4.50mm Crochet Hooks


GAUGE - 10dc and 4 rows of dc’s measures approx 2” x 2

Bowl Cover - # # With 4.00mm hook and main color, make magic circle, 15dc in circle, sl st to top of ch3. (video’s are available on youtube for magic circle)

 

Round 2 - (Inc) ch3, 1dc in base of ch3, 2dc in each dc to end, sl st to top of ch3. (31dc + ch3)


Round 3 - (Inc) ch3, 1dc in base of ch3, * 1dc in next dc, 2dc in next dc, * rpt from

* to * to last dc, 1dc in last dc, sl st to top of ch3. (47dc + ch3)


Round 4 - (Inc) ch3, 1dc in base of ch3, * 1dc in each of the next 2dc, 2dc in next dc,

* rpt from * to * to last 2dc, 1dc each of last 2dc, sl st to top of ch3. (62dc + ch3)


Round 5 - (Inc) ch3, 1dc in base of ch3, * 1dc in each of the next 3dc, 2dc in next

dc, * rpt from * to * to last 3dc, 1dc each of last 3dc, sl st to top of ch3. (79dc + ch3)


Round 6 - ch3, 1dc in each dc, to end, sl st to top of ch3. Turn.


Round 7 - Working in front loop of stitch only, ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each dc

to end, sl st to first sc. Turn. (80sc)


Round 8 - Working through both loops of stitch from now on work ch3, 1dc in each sc

to end, sl st to top of ch3. Turn.


Pattern Round 1 - ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each dc to end, sl st to first sc. Turn.


Pattern Round 2 - ch3, 1dc in each sc to end, sl st to top of ch3. Turn. Fasten off.


Pattern Round 3 - With WS facing, join in contrast color yarn, ch1, 1sc in base of ch1,

* dc5tog (see abbrev) in next sc, 1sc in next sc, * rpt from * to * to end, sl st to first sc.

Turn. Fasten off.


Pattern Round 4 - Join in main color, ch3, 1dc in each sc to end, sl st to top of ch3.

Turn. #


Pattern rows 1- 4 form the pattern, rpt pattern rows twice more. # #


Next Round  - Working in each dc and starting with ch1, work 1 row of crab stitch

(see abbrev). Fasten off.


Return to loose loops around base of bowl and with base facing you, work ch1, 1sc in

base of ch1, 1sc in each loose loop to end, sl st to first sc. Turn.


Working in each sc and starting with ch1, work one row of crab stitch. Fasten off.


Finishing - Pull end of magic circle to close centre hole and secure, sew in and tie off

loose ends of yarn.


Waste Bin Cover -  Rpt from # to # on Bowl Cover, change to 4.50mm hook, Rpt Pattern Rows 1 - 4 five more times, making 8, dc5tog rows in all.


Next Round - Working in each dc and starting with ch1, work 1 row of crab stitch.

Fasten off.


Return to loose loops around base of bowl and with base facing you, work ch1, 1sc in

base of ch1, 1sc in each loose loop to end, sl st to first sc. DNT.


Working in each sc and starting with ch1, work one row of crab stitch. Fasten off.


Finishing  -  Pull end of magic circle to close centre hole and secure, sew in and tie off loose ends of yarn.
