8 stitches to the inch in width, measured over plain smooth fabric.
Pattern
The Left Front
Using No. 10 Needles, cast on 65 stitches.

2nd row: K1, purl to last st, K1.
3rd row: Knit
4th row: As 2nd row.
Rep. 3rd row twice. **
Rep. from ** to ** twelve times, then from 1st to 4th row once.
Using No. 12 Needles, proceed as follows:
1st row: * K1, K2tog, rep. from to last 2 sts, K2. (44 sts).
2nd row: K2, * P1, K1, rep. from * to end of row.
Rep. 2nd row six times, dec. once at end of needle in last row. (43 sts).
Using No. 10 Needles, proceed as follows:
1st row: K1, bring the yarn to the front * slip 1 purlways, P1, rep. from * to last 2 sts, slip 1 purlways, take the yarn to the back, K1.
2nd row: K1, * K1, P1, rep. from * to last 2 sts, K2.
3rd row: Knit.
4th row: K1, purl to last st, K1.
Rep. 1st and 2nd rows once.
7th row: Cast off 3 sts, Knit to end of row.
8th row: As 4th row.

The Right Front

Work to correspond with Left Front, working shapings at opposite ends of needle and making a buttonhole in 5th row, following 18th row once, then following 16th rows twice.
To make a buttonhole: K2, yo twice, K2tog, work in patt. to end of row (working yo twice as one st. in following row).
The Back
Using No. 10 Needles, cast on 128 stitches.
** 1st row: K1, * (K2tog) three times, (yo, K1) six times, (K2tog) three times, rep. from * to last st, K1.

3rd row: Knit.
4th row: As 2nd row.
Rep. 3rd row twice. **

Using No. 12 Needles, proceed as follows:
1st row: K8, * K2tog, K1, rep. from * to last 9 sts, K2tog, K7 (90 sts).

Using No. 10 Needles, proceed as follows:

The Sleeves
Using No. 12 Needles, cast on 42 stitches.
1st row: Knit.
Rep. 1st row twice.
4th row: K5, * inc. once in next st, rep. from * to last 5 sts, K5. (74 sts).
Using No. 10 Needles, proceed as follows:
** 1st row: K1, * (K2tog) three times, (yo, K1) six times, (K2tog) three times, rep. from * three times, K1.
2nd row: K1, purl to last st, K1.
3rd row: Knit.
4th row: As 2nd row.
Rep. 3rd row twice. **
Rep. from ** to ** twelve times, then 1st and 2nd rows once.
Cast off 2 sts at beg. of next 4 rows.
Proceed as follows:
1st row: Cast off 2 sts, K4, * (yo, K1) three times, (K2tog) six times, (yo, K1) three times, rep. from * twice, K6.
Cast off 2 sts at beg. of next 5 rows.
7th row: Cast off 2 sts, K1, * (K2tog) six times, (yo, K1) six times, rep. from * once, (K2tog) six times, K3.

Work another Sleeve in same manner.
To Make Up
With a slightly damp cloth and warm iron, press lightly.
Using a flat seam, sew up side, shoulder and sleeve seams.
Sew in sleeves, placing seams to side seams.
With right side of work facing, using Crochet Hook, join in wool at neck edge of Left Front, and work picot edge round jacket as follows:
1st round: * 4 ch, slip st. into 1st ch, 1 dc (US single crochet) into each of next 3 sts, rep. from * all round edge of jacket. Fasten off.
Work around edge of each cuff in same manner.
Sew on buttons to correspond with buttonholes.
Finally, press picot edges and all seams.
The Frock

The Back
Work exactly as given for Front until armhole shapings are completed. (69 sts)
Work in patt. until armholes measure same as Front armholes.

1st and 2nd rows: Work to last 10 sts, turn.
3rd and 4th rows: Work to last 20 sts, turn.
5th row: Work to end of row. Cast off.
The Sleeves
Using No. 12 Needles, cast on 42 stitches.
1st row: Knit.
Rep. 1st row four times.
6th row: K3, * inc. once in next st, rep. from * to last 3 sts, K3. (78 sts).
Using No. 10 Needles, proceed as follows:
** 1st row: K3, * (K2tog) three times, (yo, K1) six times, (K2tog) three times, rep. from * three times, K3.
2nd row: K1, purl to last st, K1.
3rd row: Knit.
4th row: As 2nd row.
Rep. 3rd row twice. **
Rep. from ** to ** twice, then from 1st to 4th row once.
Cast off 2 sts at beg. of needle in every row until 42 sts remain. Cast off.
Work another Sleeve in same manner.
To Make Up

Sew up shoulder seams for ½ inch.
Sew in sleeves placing seams to side seams and gathering extra fullness at top.
Using Crochet Hook, and with right side of work facing, work picot edge round front and back of neck and hem as follows:
1st round: * 4 ch, 1 slip st. into first ch, 1 dc (US single crochet) into each of next 3 sts, rep. from * to end of round (working 16 picots round neck). Fasten off.
Work 2 rows of dc along shoulder openings making 2 button loops on front of each shoulder in 2nd row.
Sew on buttons to correspond with loops. Finally, press all seams
