Merry Christmas! Your present this year is a little evergreen ornament! Hooray!

These little guys are lightening fast and would be great in any kind of yarn: fuzzy wuzzy, variegated, super soft, maybe even chenille. Make them as teacher gifts, for co-workers, for your letter carrier, as a technicolor forest, as a garland, for fun, for profit. Consider this pattern a template for your imagination! The possibilities for decorations are endless.

Don’t feel tied to worsted weight, but do knit them at a tighter gauge than you would expect for the yarn, this will eliminate the need for any kind of stuffing or anything to help them keep their shape. No skills needed beyond increasing, decreasing and sewing things together. I do call for double pointed needles (the trunk is i-cord) but you can use them as straight needles for the whole project. Oh, if you’ve never made i-cord, I’ve got a tutorial here: yarnmiracle.com/techniques. I’d have put instructions in the directions, but then the pattern wouldn’t have fit neatly on two pages.
