I love handpainted yarns in all their multicolored glory, but I admit that they sometimes intimidate me because finding a stitch pattern that doesn’t compete and clash with the colors can be tricky. This simple stockinette stitch shawl was my solution. It’s simple, quite fast to make, and lets the colors in the yarn do most of the work. I designed this with FibroFibers Nightfall yarns in mind, but it’s a great way to showcase any hand-dyed yarn. It’s also great for using up odd skeins from your yarn stash - alternate colors and textures, and you automatically get a nice chevron pattern!

This shawl can be customized not only to whatever size you want to make, but also to whatever yarn you have on hand and whatever gauge you want to work at. It looks great in anything from laceweight yarn to super bulky handspun.
